Position Title: Relationship Manager (Loan Officer/Lender)
Salary Information: $48,000+ commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Summary:
Colonial Farm Credit is an agricultural credit cooperative ( We currently have an excellent employment opportunity for a Relationship Manager (loan officer/lender) in our Tappahannock office primarily covering the Virginia counties of Caroline, Essex, King & Queen, King George, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland.

The Relationship Manager (loan officer/lender) will:
  • serve present and prospective member customers with sound short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term loans according to Association and district policies, standards, and procedures
  • formulate business development strategies that target potential Farm Credit member customers, as well as referrals from builders, realtors, and other sources
  • service all assigned existing loans within delegated authoritiesrepresent the Association at local events and meetings
  • promote related services to all current and prospective member customers

Education, Experience, and Requirements:
  • Three or more years of experience in agriculture lending or commercial bank lending
  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field (agricultural economics preferred), finance, or economics
  • Registration (current registration or ability to successfully register) with National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) (licensing is not required)
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, negotiating, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions
  • Knowledge and skills in loan administration, loan servicing, and collateral valuation
  • Awareness of current economic developments and production technology affecting agriculture in the region
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and work independently
  • Demonstrated ability in business development and marketing
  • Travel to/from prospective and current customers as well as industry functions
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Computer experience with intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Preferred (and beneficial to applicant if selected as candidate of choice):
  • Agricultural background
  • Knowledge of TRID regulations and compliance
